Ancestors in the amidst

An angle of Context -

removing excess ink from a handmade ink pen. When done, I noticed there were 3 faces.

They were completely unintentional, created from a state I’d describe as entranced in the sensory experience of repeated hand-movements, ink release, and the scratchy friction between my pen and paper

As I go back to this moment, I see that I allowed for the moment to act as a portal for these faces to appear.

Part of what supports this perspective is that within that week, I had spent time in a prayerful state asking for the opportunity to experience my ancestors. This request being quite impactful because of a nebulous ingrained guilt I have carried around, believing that I must live with a gaping void in the place of the knowledge of the specific cultural details, stories, physical/sensory appearance of the people I am an amalgamation of.
